Description
Real-time PCR is technique used to quantify starting amounts of nucleic acid template by analyzing the amount of DNA produced during each cycle of PCR. In this technique the detection of PCR products is made by including in the reaction a fluorescent molecule that reports an increase in the amount of DNA with a proportional increase in fluorescent signal. Applications: 1. Quantitative mRNA expression studies. 2. DNA copy number measurements in genomic or viral DNAs. 3. Allelic discrimination assays or SNP genotyping. 4. Verification of micro array results. 5. Drug therapy efficacy. 6. DNA damage measurement.
