Description
The 3PrimeX is a thermal cycler with an expanded sample capacity, accommodating 48 x 0.2ml microtubes, 30 x 0.5ml tubes plus half a 96 well plate in a horizontal format most commonly used to amplify segments of DNA via the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Design flexibility allows the unit to be upgraded to included gradient cycling capability through a simple USB upgrade.
Thermal cyclers may also be used in laboratories to facilitate other temperature-sensitive reactions, including restriction enzyme digestion or rapid diagnostics.The device has a thermal block with holes where tubes holding the reaction mixtures can be inserted. The cycler then raises and lowers the temperature of the block in discrete, pre-programmed steps.
