In line with the directives issued by the Supreme Council of Universities to support and develop the system of laboratories and scientific equipment across Egyptian universities—under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities—Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Habbaq, Director of the National Bank for Laboratories and Scientific Equipment, conducted an inspection visit to several central and research laboratories at Alexandria University. The visit was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, and Prof. Dr. Afaf El-Oufi, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research. The visit program was organized and prepared by the Laboratories and Scientific Equipment Unit at Alexandria University, headed by Prof. Dr. Ola Shakeri, Director of the Unit, and in the presence of unit members: Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Zeyani, Dr. Samar Samir, and Dr. Mahmoud Omar Amer. The visit commenced with a welcoming meeting at the office of Prof. Dr. Afaf El-Oufi, followed by a comprehensive inspection tour across the medical and educational campuses to evaluate the laboratory facilities and capabilities. The tour included: • Medical Research Center at the Faculty of Medicine: The delegation was received by the center's management and executive directors of the labs. Discussions focused on ways to maximize and promote the research services as well as the training and educational programs offered by the center (such as the Protein Research, Chromatography, Center of Excellence in Regenerative Medicine and Applications "CERRMA", and Genome Research labs). • The Central Lab and the Metal Corrosion and Paint Testing Lab at the Faculty of Science (Moharam Bek Building): The visiting team was received by Prof. Dr. Heba Refaat, Director of the Central Lab, Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis, former Vice President of Alexandria University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Betsir Abdel Naby. Prof. Dr. El-Habbaq reviewed the technical and developmental needs to reduce operational challenges and discussed mechanisms for integration with the National Bank platform to serve the industrial and community sectors through coating evaluation services and corrosion protection testing. • The Central Lab at the Faculty of Agriculture (El-Shatby Building): The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Heba Sabry Salama, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, while Dr. Yousra Sultan, Executive Director of the Central Lab, presented the modern capabilities and equipment, as well as the infrastructure development and modernization the laboratory has undergone. To foster integration and optimize the utilization of scientific assets, the meetings and mutual discussions during the tour focused on several strategic pillars, including: • Optimal Operation of Equipment: Exploring ways to make use of idle or low-utilization devices and incorporating them into the National Bank's maintenance and technical support system. • Marketing Laboratory Services: Making modern equipment and capabilities available to researchers, academic entities, and industrial sectors to increase scientific and applied returns. • Improving Operational Efficiency: Elevating the quality of scientific assets in accordance with the regulatory standards set by the Supreme Council of Universities. At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Habbaq praised the outstanding level and continuous development observed in the infrastructure of Alexandria University's laboratories, commending the efforts of the university administration, the Laboratories and Scientific Equipment Unit, and the laboratory personnel in documenting and registering equipment data. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. El-Habbaq promised to repeat the visit in the near future to hold an expanded meeting with the coordinators of Alexandria University's faculties and institutes, continuing the ongoing support and collaboration between the National Bank for Laboratories and educational institutions.
