Qena University President Receives Director of the "National Bank for Laboratories" and Reviews University Achievements in Research Infrastructure Development Qena – December 24, 2025 Professor Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of Qena University, received Professor Dr. Mahmoud Moustafa Elhabbaq, Director of the National Bank for Laboratories and Scientific Equipment at the Supreme Council of Universities. The meeting aimed to discuss means of enhancing cooperation and developing the scientific equipment system at the university. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ashraf Moussa, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Hassan Ahmed Mohamed, Supervisor of the University’s Laboratories and Scientific Equipment Unit. A Breakthrough in Scientific Equipment Documentation The meeting reviewed the qualitative achievements made by QENA UNIVERSITY in the laboratory development file. Notably, the university secured second place among Egyptian universities in the inventory and uploading of scientific equipment data to the National Bank of Equipment platform at the Supreme Council of Universities, reflecting the efficiency of the university's administrative and technical systems. Supporting Infrastructure and Transitioning Toward Sustainability During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Akkawy emphasized that supporting research infrastructure is a top priority for the university. He noted that modernizing laboratories according to national and international standards aims to elevate the quality of scientific research and the educational process. Furthermore, Dr. Akkawy revealed the university's plan to establish a specialized center for the maintenance of scientific equipment. This center is envisioned as a "house of expertise" serving university faculties, university hospitals, and the surrounding community, ensuring the sustainability of equipment and maximizing its utility. Praising the "Governance" of the Research System For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Moustafa Elhabbaq praised the noticeable progress witnessed at Qena University, commending the role of the university administration and the Laboratory Unit in implementing governance standards and precise documentation of scientific equipment. Dr. Elhabbaq stressed that these efforts align with the vision of the Supreme Council of Universities to create a unified national network for centralized laboratories, allowing for the optimal utilization of available research capabilities for all researchers across the Republic. Field Inspection Tour On the sidelines of the visit, the committee conducted a field inspection of several research laboratories in the Faculties of Science, Veterinary Medicine, and Medicine. The tour aimed to assess the operational efficiency of scientific equipment and ensure their readiness to serve research and educational purposes, as part of the institutional and research excellence path recently adopted by the university.
