ASWAN – December 18, 2025 In alignment with the state’s strategic vision to maximize the utilization of research capabilities within Egyptian universities, Prof. Dr. Louay Saad El-Deen Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, received a high-level delegation from the Supreme Council of Universities. The delegation included Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Director of the Central Unit for IT Training; Dr. Rasha Mohamed Badry, Director of the National Center for Training and Leadership Development; and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Moustafa El-Habbaq, Director of the National Bank for Laboratories and Scientific Equipment. The meeting was attended by several prominent university figures, including Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalhal, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ashraf Emam, Vice President for Community Service; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Layl, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources; Prof. Dr. Abdel-Moneim El-Jailani, Dean of the Institute of African Research and Nile Basin Studies; Mr. Khaled Asran, Secretary-General of the University; and Dr. Hussein El-Damrani. Field Tour of Research Laboratories The visit included an extensive field tour of the research laboratories at the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Accompanied by Dr. Hussein El-Damrani, the delegation reviewed the operational efficiency of scientific equipment and its readiness to serve graduate studies and various research projects. Prof. Dr. Loay Nosrat emphasized that the university places the highest priority on developing laboratory infrastructure, noting that the Faculty of Agriculture’s labs are a fundamental pillar in supporting food security and applied research in Upper Egypt. Commending "Governance" and Asset Management For his part, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Moustafa El-Habbaq, Director of the National Bank for Laboratories, praised the high level of "Governance" implemented at Aswan University regarding the inventory and documentation of scientific equipment. Dr. El-Habbaq stated that the progress observed in the Faculty of Agriculture reflects the university’s commitment to the Supreme Council of Universities' directives to optimize research assets. By linking these assets to the National Network of Laboratories, the university ensures advanced capabilities for researchers while reducing maintenance and operational costs through prudent management. Integrating Human Development with Research Readiness On the sidelines of the tour, the delegation reviewed the achievements of the Faculty Leadership Development Center (FLDC). The University President highlighted the vital link between enhancing human resource efficiency—which saw a significant leap with the number of trainees exceeding 2,000 in 2025—and the ability to manage and operate complex research laboratories with high precision. Future Vision The visit concluded with university leadership and the visiting delegation reaffirming the importance of continued institutional cooperation. The ultimate goal remains to transform university laboratories into regional centers of excellence that serve industry, agriculture, and the community, in full accordance with Egypt Vision 2030 for comprehensive development.
