During an Extensive Inspection Visit: Sohag University and the National Bank for Laboratories Discuss Maximizing the Utilization of Scientific Assets

SOHAG – December 23, 2025 Prof. Dr. Hassan El-Noamany, President of Sohag University, announced a significant national achievement as the university ranked first among Egyptian public universities in the Laboratory and Research Equipment Data Quality Index. According to the September 2025 report by the National Bank for Laboratories, the university achieved an efficiency rate of 83.02%. In this context, the university received Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa El-Habbaq, Director of the National Bank for Laboratories and Scientific Equipment at the Supreme Council of Universities. The visit aimed to maximize the utility of scientific assets and evaluate their operational efficiency in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030. Field Tour and Digital Governance During his field tour, the Director of the National Bank was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Khalid Abd El-Latif Omran, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. The inspection included: University Hospitals: To review the latest medical research equipment and services. The Central Laboratory and the Faculty of Science: Where they inspected chemistry and physics laboratories and reviewed models of advanced scientific instruments. The tour was attended by Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Dr. Amr Mustafa, Deputy Director of the Hospital; Dr. Ibrahim Abd El-Halim, Coordinator of the Laboratory and Equipment Unit; and Prof. Dr. Mostafa Radwan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science for Education and Student Affairs. Commending Institutional Excellence For his part, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Moustafa El-Habbaq praised the "qualitative leap" witnessed by Sohag University in the "governance" of scientific equipment and its accurate digital inventory. He emphasized that such excellence contributes to reducing import expenditures through the prudent management of maintenance and operations. Prof. Dr. Khalid Omran noted that the committee lauded the quality of the university's laboratories and equipment. He confirmed that the devices currently registered on the portal represent only a portion of the university's total capacity, with many more across various faculties to be added soon, reflecting the massive research potential of Sohag University. Prof. Dr. Hassan El-Noamany concluded the visit by reaffirming the university's commitment to dedicating all resources to support the scientific research ecosystem. He stated that the university continues to modernize its infrastructure according to the highest international standards, maintaining its position as a "scientific beacon" serving development sectors across Upper Egypt.
