Description
A classic behavioral instrument used to determine the pain threshold in rodents by applying a uniformly increasing mechanical pressure to the paw. The animal is placed with its paw between a plinth and a rounded-tip pusher; the operator uses a foot pedal to increase force until the animal struggles or withdraws, at which point the "nociceptive threshold" is recorded in grams.
