Description
Produces Liquid Nitrogen Unit, also known as liquefied nitrogen, with a boiling point of -196°C. Its most important uses include cryosurgery to remove certain cancers and skin lesions; storing tissues, cells, and blood at extremely cold temperatures to prevent oxidation of the samples; preserving biological samples such as sperm, eggs, and animal genetic samples; as part of a medical gas mixture for lung function tests; and in the pharmaceutical industry. It is used in industrial gas refinements, metal manufacturing, rubber and plastics, automotive, electronics, and building materials. It is also used as a coolant for superconductors used in radioactive material counters such as Germanium counters, vacuum pumps, and other materials and equipment. It also protects materials from exposure to oxygen.
